Uko (Uilke) Post (Meppel, 27-07-1954),

is een Nederlands/Belgische kunstschilder die tot de noordelijke realisten kan worden gerekend. Het Noordelijk Realisme is een kunststroming die in de 20e eeuw in Noord- Nederland ontstond.

 

Levensloop

Van 1972 tot 1978 voltooide Uko Post zijn masteropleiding in het vrije kunstenaarschap, de schilderkunst en de grafiek aan de Academie Minerva in Groningen.  In 1994 verliet hij Nederland om zich te vestigen in de Eifel in het dorpje Lommersweiler bij Sankt Vith, op de grens van Duitsland en België.

 

Werk

Uko Post maakt voornamelijk olieverfschilderijen in een realistische stijl, melancholisch van sfeer, gerelateerd aan Magisch Realisme en Neo-Romantiek. Veel thema's zijn vanitas, leegte, vergankelijkheid.

is a Dutch/Belgian painter who can be counted among the northern realists. Northern realism is an art movement that emerged in the North-Netherlands in the 20th century.

 

Lifecycle

From 1972 to 1978, Uko Post completed his master's degree in free artistry, painting and graphics, at the Minerva Academy in Groningen.  In 1994 he left the Netherlands to settle in the Eifel region in the village of Lommersweiler near Sankt Vith, on the border of Germany and Belgium.

 

Work

Post mainly makes oil paintings in a realistic style, melancholic in atmosphere, related to Magical Realism and Neo-Romanticism. Many themes are vanitas, emptiness, transience.
